Questions for Experienced Affiliate Marketers

I understand the advantages of promoting someone else’s product. Especially when just starting out, like I am.
Go to a place like clickbank, choose your niche, pick a product, and blog away…
But where I have some questions is:
Do you use their suggested articles? And if so, then they are duplicates aren’t they? And even if they are spun, the article is written from the "owner" of the product, not me, so how does that make me a trusted blogger?
Also, if I choose a product, should I buy it? Especially one of those "blog to make money" guides. If I want to blog my experiences using a product, then I have to pay for that product, so then the vendor just made money off of me to use a product I am not sure will work for me, but yet I am trying to sell it to other people…
