SearchMash Adds Video Search

Google’s searchmash testing grounds has added a new video search area. Now, searches offer you four options in the sidebar: Images, Blogs, Video and Wikipedia. The video search area shows six thumbnails, which you can hold your mouse over for the titles, and if you click a result, the video begins playing in the sidebar above the results. For now, the video search only searches Google, but since this is an experiment, I wouldn’t be surprised if the searchmash guys take a chance and add YouTube.

Also, I didn’t realize this before, but there’s a link below each of the search results in the sidebar to see a full version of those results. For example, you can click to get a full video search engine, which gives you a page with 20 larger video thumbnails, and a much larger preview area, and all the other search verticals […]
