NASDAQ Builds Internet Stock Index
The NASDAQ launched last week the NASDAQ Internet Index, or QNET, which will track the performance of internet industry companies, including ISPs, e-commerce firms, search engines, hosting and design firms. The full list of participating companies is here, including Akamai, Amazon, Audible, Baidu, CNET, comScore, DivX, EarthLink, eBay, IAC, Jupitermedia, Netflix, Verisign, WebMD, and Yahoo.
Understandably, the index is heavilly influenced by Google, and its past over the last week mirrors that of the GOOG. Hopefully it’ll become a good barometer of the health of the industry over the coming years.
