Affiliate Recruiting Best Practices

I am specifically trying to increase the number of affiliates for our health product / vitamins related website:
www.smarthealthshop.com/affiliates.html
Currently, there are 160 active affiliates and I’d like to increase it by hundreds.
Could you have a discussion about best practices for affiliate recruitment and best affiliate networks to join?
Currently, we promote to current customers with a friend referral program via email communication and Facebook fan page and are included in the ClixGalore network for affiliates.
