How to Make Money From Hotel Affiliate Programs

Hi folks,
I’m in Asia at the moment and have discovered an interesting area where people are flocking to spend the night. The domain name of the place wasn’t taken, nor was placehotels.com, placeroad.com, etc. So I bought them.
I have used Agoda in the past to book my own hotels, and I thought about partnering with them in order to monetize my placehotels.com web site. Then I found a few threads on this forum suggesting they might not be the best people to work with.
I am somewhat new to affiliate marketing, though I understand the principles of CJ, Adsense, Amazon, etc. However, I am unclear on how money could be earned from hotel bookings/referrals. Could anyone point me in the right direction? I would like to build the site with WP.
