How search trends help Yahoo! create original, tailored content and ads
Whenever there’s a big event, Yahoo! producers mine data to see what people are “really digging for,” says Pamela Woon, Yahoo!’s Executive Producer, Digital Media Bureau.
We keep “our finger on that ‘trend pulse,’ ” she says. “Then we turn around and put out the answers to the questions that are most needed and most searched for, either on Yahoo! or through the many media partnerships we’ve got in place.”
These include search trends segments that air on ABC News and more than 320 TV stations in the U.S. and Canada, tailored and localized “right down to the zip code.”
So what’s the benefit for advertisers? The same technology that lets us track trends also helps pinpoint users by their interests, through enhanced search to “target very specific customers.”
