PHP help please

I need help with my website I currently have an HTML website that I don't want and need converted to PHP. I just got my SSL Certificate and need even the homepage to be completely covered with the SSL. Amongst that PHP might doi this by default but I want all the tabs on site About , Contact etc. to when clicked on to just show my-website.com instead of my-website.com/index. I have done this before so I know it can be done.
