I want to find out how generous people are…

If somebody asked to ‘borrow’ a pound you know full well that you would unlikely get it back but it wouldn’t bother you as it’s such a negligible amount. Normally you’d get asked this by a friend at the pub who doesn’t quiet have enough money for the round (The cheek of it), or by a stranger in the street. What would you normally say?
No, but why?
A pound isn’t a great deal of money, granted you could purchase any item from Poundland or the 99p store, but in the grand scheme of things it is…
