Advice needed regarding a new site ?

Hello , i am creating a website from scratch regarding code and everything ( not copying anything from any other website ) . However there is one small thing that another website that provides the same service as mine ; which is the homepage . It shows you a bunch of countries and cities and you select the one you wish to browse . Is it illegal to do the same for my website ( This select country feature ?)
