Getting Links

So, for me, and I'm assuming for you, the hardest part of SEO is actually getting your site popular on the net (backlinks and etc from high PR sites).
For those of you that would say you're pretty good at this, what are ways you'd recommend to use to get high amounts of backlinks to your site. Like everyone says use social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube. But is there a limit to how much links you should post from them in a certain time span or something? Like would it…
