Article Directories & 2.0Webs

Hey guys,
I wanted to ask you something about article directories and 2.0webs.
If the pages of a website have only this type of backlinks (relevant and unique content), are they still going to be hit by Penguin? Or do we still need to mix them with other type of content, maybe guest posts from similar websites…or something like that?
