how do you know if the affiliate is trustworthy?

where do you go to find reputable affiliates to market products for?
I am a bit paranoid about providing banking information to strangers over the internet. I had asked about affiliates which send funds through Paypal, but not all will send fund this way.
What is the best way to stay safe when providing your banking information to an affiliate?
Is it best to set up a separate account strictly for receiving funds from your affiliates?
Any advice or recommendations you could provide would be appreciated.
