Advertising Stats of the Week: $15 Billion on Search Marketing in 2011

$15 billion: Search advertising spend in 2011, as “modeled” by Citibank, from a report on AdExchanger. Citi made the prediction after analyzing the IAB’s recent study, which we reported on last week , and noted a 22% rise in overall online ad spend in Q3 2011.
16%: The percentage of advertising spent online in 2011, according to ZenithOptimedia and reported by Greg Sterling. See the above item for context.
90%: The percentage of marketers who will expand their mobile marketing efforts in 2012, according to a survey commissioned by AT&T and reported on Fierce Mobile Content. Of the 501 U.S. marketing execs, 43% said that they’d develop an app; significant portions would consider using bar codes (41%), banner ads (40%), mobile websites (35%), SMS (34%), etc.
