So far, no one has developed an app that lets consumers kick the tires of a virtual car when they’re in the market to buy a real one. Nonetheless, the Internet has become central to the vehicle-shopping process. A recent survey by Yahoo! and Universal McCann offers insight into how consumers who’ve recently bought a vehicle or intend to do so make use of online resources– not just to glean information, but to remake the activity into a game they’re determined to win.
One sign of the Internet’s importance in vehicle shopping comes via answers to a survey question that asked how often shoppers visited auto websites and dealerships.
