Ad of the Week: Motorola’s Tablet Evolution
Xooming through a brief history of tablets, from the ten commandments to an Android
Tablets are the hottest items at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show, but according to an ad from Motorola, this simply continues a long evolution of the flat, scribable platform. To help build anticipation for the January 5 unveiling of its Xoom tablet computer, the company released a 96-second, computer-generated tour of the history of the tablet, focusing on the pro’s and cons of each. Hence, the Ten Commandments offers “excellent durability” but “zero flexibility (can’t edit).”
This virtual tour of the Museum of Tablets gallery, featuring the backdrop of a tense, modern musical score, takes shots at the more-recent Apple iPad (“It’s like a giant iPhone…but it’s like a giant iPhone.”) and Samsung Galaxy Tab before stopping at a shrouded machine resting above the Motorola logo.
