New and confused!

I am new to all this stuff and am still pretty confused. I do have a website and an affiliate manager, but I still feel like I’m going no where fast. I thought the best way to go would be with an affiliate system that would give me a ready built site, but now I have my doubts. After I got my site I joined an affiliate network and got a manager. He gave me a couple of good promotions and I started setting up my ads through GoogleAdwords. After two months of working on everything I found out that the site I have don’t allow me to advertise anything but what they offer. Of course they don’t offer what I have been writing ads for.
