Experienced BUM Looking to Start Into PPC

Hello Everyone.
First Post here…
I’ve been experiencing really great results from bum marketing for some time. I have several "campaigns" and around a thousand articles. I’ve quit my job and working full time now as an internet marketer.
Now, I’m interested in taking the next step and getting into PPC, which I haven’t paid much attention to since starting to see good results from article marketing. What I’m interested in knowing is if there is anything to PPC other than simply targeting a large number of long tail keywords and simply sending them to my typical landers?
I’m thinking that most of the technicalities of adwords, yahoo and ask are overanalyzing and thinking that it’s really just as simple as article marketing, with the exception of paid ads vs articles.
Any thought, please?
