Some Advice On Pay Per Click

Hi There
I run a few different websites with a range of things. One of which sells Beauty Products.
I have recently tried some PPC programs namely Google and Facebook Ads. But I don’t seem to be getting any sales from them, it just seems to be costing me money. I have a reasonable amount of sales on these sites so its not them, it just seems I am spending a fortune on these ads and not getting anywhere.
Can anyone give me some pointers, a good PPC to try, or another effective way of advertising either free or for a budget?
