Google Announces Big Brother Gadget
Google has announced a partnership with a company that makes evil devices that spy on you and know your every move. Okay, not at all accurate, but they have partnered with a company that makes a small camera used to track how many people look at a billboard or other type of display advertising, or even products in stores. The palm-sized $1000 device uses a very simple principle: Counting the amount of redeye it sees in photos, and Google plans to distribute this EyeBox as part of some advertising effort.
The odd thing is I can’t find any real details on Google’s partnership with Xuuk, makers of the EyeBox, just a quote that they want to be the Google of the physical space (in other words, tracking actions on ads and charging for those, like Google’s Pay Per Click model), but no word on the partnership or even why […]
