Google Second Most Innovative Company
BusinessWeek released a list of the most innovative companies in the world, and Google took second place, behind only Apple and three spots ahead of Microsoft. BusinessWeek doesn’t note a lot of data to back up its high placement for Google, since its numbers are based on five-year averages (2001-2006). In fact, they note just one patent for Google in that entire period, compared with 34 for Apple and 174 for Microsoft. Still, Google’s previously high-flying stock and astounding revenue growth, even if it reaches back only three years, is probably more than sufficient.
Among others you might be interested in: Amazon.com basically held, going from 21 to 20 and eBay fell from 18 to 24. Not showing anywhere on the list: Yahoo.
