Sci-Fi Show Afterworld To Test YouTube’s Ability To Sell Ads
A new science fiction series, Afterworld, is now airing previews on YouTube. When the show launches in mid-month on YouTube and other video sharing sites, it will test the ability of video portals to support web-based series through revenue sharing. While there are vloggers trying to make money on some sites, and some mainstream media content trying revenue shares with website, this will be the first time a show with a multi-million dollar budget will air exclusively on these sites, relying entirely on revenue shares to determine whether they make it or not.
At least they aren’t starting from nowhere. AfterWorld’s director channel on YouTube is number three most subscribed to on the site, with 6,466 viewers.
