IAC Launching Virtual World For Zwinkies

IAC, parent company of Ask.com, is getting into the super-hyped virtual world game, with Zwinktopia, a world for its Zwinky social networking avatars. Zwinkies are little heavilly customizable cartoon avatars that can be used on a number of social networking sites, including MySpace, with details being updates on all sites when a Zwinky is altered. Now, Zwinky users can take their Zwinkies into this virtual world and let them run around, chat, and do all sorts of silly virtual world things (without decending into the sexual depravity that infects Second Life, we hope).
Michael Arrington points out that with 20 million toolbars installed (IAC makes money with the search toolbar installed with the Zwinky) and 4.7 million worldwide monthly visitors, Zwinkies already have a bigger audience than Second Life, something IAC can try to tap to become the new big dog in the virtual pond.
