Longtale Theory – Feedback Please

Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum and I would like a to post a topic that has probably been on here before…
What is everyone’s feedback on doing long tale to your Search Marketing Campaigns…It’s worked great for me in the past…but I am sure I could optimize it a lot better.
Also, does anyone have a keyword generator software that they use for different variations such as implementing the long tale theory to your campaigns.
The softwares that I have used, such as Word Tracker, only give me like 100-200 variations….as do the AdWords and Yahoo keyword selector tools.
