Recommend me some nooB resources

I wan’t to start actively promoting some of the affiliate programs I’ve joined using some PPC advertising, but I want to avoid costly mistakes if possible. Can anyone list some easy to understand newbie resources that talk about how to put together a cost effective PPC campaign?
