How to make money from 1000 visitors/day

I have a jokes website that regularly gets 1000 visitors/day – what is the best way to monetise that?
I currently have adsense on the site but it makes really lousy money (like not even worth talking about)… so what is a good way to monetise it? pop-ups/pop unders? something else?
even a $ or two would be more that it currently gets.
