Ad word campaign for Affiliate marketing

I have to start my Ad word campaign for Affiliate Marketing related keywords, and I have idea but not experience in Ad words, so either I can start with small no of keywords, get experience and gradually increase number of keywords or I have to start experience with all the keywords? What will be the better option?
