Traffic and PPC

Does the daily uniques make a difference with most PPC advertisers? Somedays my site gets 2k unique and 20 clicks but makes $3.00 then other days my site gets 1k unique and 40 clicks but makes $2.00
Why I ask is b/c I do banner exchange and if this is true I will invest more money into visitors. Banner exchange is pretty nice and alot cheaper then PPC advertising.
