AdSense Publishers Reporting Drops In Earnings

Amit Agarwal reports that a number of AdSense publishers are reporting that their earnings are dropping signifcantly recently despite no changes in traffic, causing panic that may be Yahoo or someone else’s gain.
Some are speculating that Google’s crackdown on Made For AdSense sites, ones which feature no real content, just ads, may be hurting everyone else. All of Google’s ad sales are propped up on an auction pyramid, and any drop in ads sold results in significant price drops across the board, so the loss of a small but significant number of spammy publishers can have the effect of lowering earnings, but it can also cause them to shoot up, depending on specific circustances.
