Building a Brand

I’ve been seeing folks online suggest that google is actually interested in Brands more than they say they are… and that’s why suddenly empty pages on walmart and target seem to suddenly be doing so well in google.
Here is a pretty good article on the top with some videos that at midnight last night seemed pretty darn funny.

Blueprint for Making an Impact at a Conference

Conferences are an investment in your business, and with any investment, you should do your homework and have a plan to be sure you get the best return.

Along those lines, I just wanted to share the story of Dave Cupples of FatCowBusiness.com.
Dave was accepted as a speaker for Affiliate Summit East 2011, and a couple weeks before the conference, he put together an entertaining video and blog post (Why Affiliate Summit is the best conference in the world, LIVE from Australia + Boomerang + Didgeridoo!) to preview his session.

He also started up a poll (VOTE: Which Australian Animal should I give away during my Affiliate Summit Presentation?) to encourage some interaction with conference attendees in advance.
Not surprisingly, Dave also put a lot of time and effort into a quality, informative presentation (Making Money with Facebook, Twitter & Blogging) for Affiliate Summit, and he spoke before a standing room only crowd.

newbie on ppc – best way to implement for revenue ?

I am launching a website / directory of local businesses in the automotive sector. I am looking for ways to monitize the site other than selling plain vanilla directory listings.
With PPC, how does one find advertisers that would pay to be listed on my site? I know there are "impression" ads, but with PPC, how do you charge and track these — or do you have to use a network?
Also – on a few websites that I’ve been on, when you click a link it takes you to a full-page ad for something and there is a link in the upper right hand area that says "skip this ad". What do you call that type of advertising and where do you find advertisers for that? I think that once my site gets some traffic that new car vendors might advertise with me…. hopefully.
Tks in advance.

Popular Doesn’t Mean Impossible

When you first started out in affiliate marketing, it’s likely that you turned to a popular niche. Ringtones, dating and dieting all spring to mind. As the affiliate lifecycle progresses, we gravitate towards the less popular niches. Why? Maybe because popular niches are overcrowded and there are smaller payouts.
Does this philosophy really make sense?
Does popularity define difficulty? Not at all. Just because there is less competition and the initial payout is a little higher, doesn’t mean the niche is going to be easier to scale.
Then & Now
Think about it this way. Ten years ago, running a mildly successful dieting campaign would bring in a sweet chunk of change. Why? Barely anyone was interested in affiliate marketing. The competition was low and the payouts were high. Why wouldn’t you be paid more?
Now, there are niches that are known for success – the popular niches. The customer demand for these campaigns is [...]
